The lecturers were highly engaged with students one-on-one and there was so much practical hands-on experience that wasn’t available elsewhere.”

“Almost everything I learnt at MIT is transferred to my work today.”

“I left school when I was 15 without my NCEA level 1, but I always knew I wanted to do something in tech as I loved video games and was always on the computer. My experience at MIT was like nothing I’ve experienced before and completely different to how high school was for me. I met all these cool new people and teachers.
In high school I didn’t get along with a lot of people, but at MIT it’s a lot easier to talk to other students and even lecturers. I spent a lot of time on campus and made some really good friends.
Currently I’m employed working in my dream field. Almost everything I learnt at MIT is transferred to my work today. I actually use those skills every day.
What I enjoyed most about MIT was the lecturers. They have a star-studded line up of lecturers and I’ve only got good things to say. They’re very flexible and really encourage and push you to improve your skills. I haven’t had that experience anywhere else.”

“A solid education took my mind-set from ‘Impossible’ to I AM possible!”

MIT has been an integral part of my journey from certificate level to graduating with a business degree. It offered the qualifications I was looking for and the flexibility that enabled me to study while working full-time. I always felt supported and found the help I needed from classroom-based learning to online webinars.
I’m part of the Pacific migration story and the opportunity of a solid education took my mind-set from ‘Impossible’ to I am possible! The family vibe at MIT was important to me and with the ability to work and study in South Auckland made things simple and accessible.
To date I’ve been fortunate to work across a number of industries in both public and private sectors whilst embracing personal and professional growth. The skills and knowledge gained have led me to a number of leadership roles in my chosen field of learning and development now based in Wellington, New Zealand.
I believe in life-long learning and champion transferrable skills. Along the way I’ve become a published author and continue my work in the community as an advocate for public speaking skills. To me it comes down to, stepping into the light and showing what’s possible, as my way to honour and thank those that have paved the way before me, as I stand on the shoulders of giants.”

“At every step I use what I have learned at MIT.”

“I chose MIT for the excellent knowledge in business courses that it offers to students at a very affordable cost.
I moved to NZ for higher education as soon as I finished my bachelors back in India.
At every step I use what I have learned at MIT. I can relate all my subjects and use the methods I was taught during the course. At MIT, I loved the way all my professors conducted fully interactive sessions. I never returned home with a single question about the topics I studied during the lecture which used to be the best part of those days.
Industry placement is key, as it introduced us to the real world and helped us understand how we could use our learning. Everything that I have learned in the course, I was, and I still am implementing on my work projects, which has led me to manage 6 major projects.
The confidence I have built within myself after learning about how to deal with the problems and to create a strong communication channel within the team and the clients have also been very helpful in getting the success in this field.
The quality education, the support from the teachers, and the atmosphere which MIT creates to make you accomplish your goals, makes MIT unique.”

“The skills I’ve learned here have put me at the front of the pack.”

“I want to set an example to my kids that studying and learning is important. It’s never too late to pursue a different career and do what makes you happy.
Crossing that stage to receive my first degree will be my highest achievement. In a million years, I didn’t think I’d be graduating.
The skills I’ve learned here have put me at the front of the pack, and I wouldn’t have picked them up anywhere else. It’s not just the technical knowledge, but also learning the importance of connecting with people and how crucial that is to get the best from them.”

“My qualification from MIT definitely helped me secure my current job.”

“I chose MIT because of its strong reputation. What I loved most is that MIT had small and manageable class sizes which helped me make good relationships with my lectures. I also made some good friends because of the team project work. My queries were also answered on a one-on-one basis which made me appreciate MIT even more.
My qualification from MIT definitely helped me secure my current job as a tax consultant at KPMG. The courses helped me to obtain academic and technical knowledge, and the industry project helped me to apply that knowledge into practice.
I would highly recommend students to study at MIT. The small class size, interactive learning course pattern, and friendly and helpful staff made my experience unique at MIT.”

“You can pursue higher education.”

“I chose to study ECE because I love children and I’ve always known that I wanted to work with children from a really young age.
My family knew that I’ve always wanted to be a teacher so they have always supported me and encouraged me to pursue higher education, even though I did leave school early from an accident at 16. My number one priority is to get an education and make sure that I can provide a better life for my family and the family that I will have in the future.
To anyone that has left school early, just know that you can pursue higher education, there are no limits on that, just believe in yourself and always strive for better. Just go for it and never let anything hold you back would be my advice to someone that wants to study at MIT.
I want to own my own centre – that is the end goal for me.”

“MIT has given me the confidence to go out into the world to do what I love.”

”Since I was a little girl, I have always been fascinated by doing hair and I kind of always knew that I wanted to be a hairdresser.
I am a graduate of MIT hairdressing and they have given me the confidence to go out into the world to do what I love. They taught me hands-on skills and how to work with clients. Making me feel confident to go out into the workforce knowing what I am doing.
I studied at MIT before I did hairdressing and I have always felt comfortable. That is why I went back there because I have always had good experiences there in the past years. The thing I enjoyed most was the environment that I was in with my tutors and my fellow classmates.
When I was studying, I had a daughter who was six years old at the time and I found it quite flexible with MIT, being close to where her school was.
Some of the exciting things you can do in hairdressing are fashion, beauty and working with clients to make them feel good is the best thing ever.
Definitely go for it. MIT – I do not regret it. It was, I feel, the best years of my life.”

“I got a job before I had even completed my studies.”

“I began studying for my certificate in plumbing and gasfitting at MIT instead of doing year 13 at school, and I’m so glad I did. It offered great facilities and our learning was very hands-on, which made it fun. We also had great support throughout from our tutors, who were mostly ex-tradesmen. Their strong industry connections meant we had a head-start when it came to securing a job after graduating.
I got a job before I had even completed my studies. It has a lot of variety including, plumbing, gas fitting, drain laying, roofing, driving diggers, and lifts, as well as organising jobs. Thanks to the support of my MIT tutors I’ve also participated in the Worldskills competition.
If you’re considering MIT, I’d say go for it, it can really take you places. You’ll be well qualified and prepared for the workplace.”

“I wasn’t prepared for so many doors to open and so many opportunities to be offered.”

“When I began classes at MIT I realised this was my ‘foot in the door’ moment, taking that first step. I wasn’t prepared for so many doors to open and so many opportunities to be offered.
Lecturers connected me with employers, gave me insights into the industry and introduced me to their industry networks. Even the TechPark facility really surprised me with how modern it is.
You don’t have to have a dream to start chasing one. I know I’ve made the best decision. So proud to be a part of this.”

“Hands-on learning has improved my growth and development as a person.”

“I chose social work because I want to see positive changes within our communities and our Pasifika youth. What I enjoy most is MIT is local. We literally only live a couple of roads down.
MIT’s hands-on learning has improved my overall growth and development as a person because I learn better hands-on, I don’t learn from a book. The environment itself has a huge impact on our learning, just seeing it every day is what motivates us to actually do better for ourselves and our family.”

“Learning is good for you, good for your family, and good for the culture.”

“I’m 55 and I would advise for those in my age, that it’s not too late to learn. You can go to lecturers, and they will help you. Learning is good for you, good for your family, and good for the culture.
I chose MIT because it’s close to me. I live in Otara and if I can’t get a car, I can walk to the campus. At MIT people are friendly and the facilities are really useful, there’s everything on campus.”

“MIT is different because they are training students for the workforce.”

“I chose to study nursing because I always had an interest in sciences, and I enjoy working with people, so it was an easy decision to combine the two and work in healthcare.
I chose to study at MIT because of the small class sizes. I really liked that the lecturers actually know their students by name, and you know the people in your class. I like the inclusive atmosphere on campus. Specifically, in my degree I enjoy the clinical placements, it is so exciting to actually gain practical experience in an environment where everyone wants you to succeed.
MIT is different because they are training students for the workforce. When you graduate you’re fully prepared to work in that field.
I would tell students that you need to be willing to commit. In order to get the most out of this experience, you must throw yourself in 100%, don’t make excuses for not giving it your all!
Three years seems like a long time but it will go by so fast, it is a lot of hard work, but it is so worth the time and energy in the long term.”

“I’m learning and developing faster than I ever imagined.”

“MIT is the finest. The lecturers leave no stone left to answer your concerns and are outstanding at their professions. They have incredible skill on their subjects.
MIT is full of diversity, and when you’re surrounded by such diverse people, you learn a lot, and you get a different perspective on things.
The curriculum has been great, but it’s the people who have made my MIT experience exceptional. When I initially got here, I was scared people would be reserved and solely focused on their academics. I’ve been astonished. The friends I’ve met here are my new family.
Nursing rewards me constantly. I’m learning and developing faster than I ever imagined. I feel wonderful when my patients recover and when I comfort grieving family members. I love being a nurse because I connect and help people at their most vulnerable, unexpected times. It is the most different feeling when you heal a person. Helping others feels good, and I get compensated for it. It’s my dream job.
I studied full-time with 2 kids as well as working. If I can do it, anyone can do it. Age is just the number.
If you dream to achieve something, MIT is the place to make that dream come true. MIT is your future, where you may study from the ground and then rise into the sky.”

“There’s lots of great opportunities.”

“After university, I was looking for something to do and volunteered to work on the Green Peace vessel Esperanza and that’s where I fell in love with working on the ocean. So from there, I moved into the yachting world and I’ve slowly been upgrading my certificates throughout my career. There’s lots of great opportunities.
I’ve done extensive traveling. I’ve done the Pacific seven times, circumnavigated South America, all the East Coast of the States, the Mediterranean, the Caribbean. Always traveling and always checking out the world.
The facilities here at this school are the best in the south pacific. I’m from Fiji so we don’t have these types of facilities there. Coming over here and learning in the simulator which is really quite real and helps out in real-life situations. The school here has really good, experienced lecturers. It’s a great campus. I really enjoy the camaraderie between all the students here. Everyone is very approachable.”

“This has enhanced my knowledge, and benefitted me financially.”

“When I was asked in an interview if I have done any further studies despite 11 years of experience, I had said no. I do not want that to happen again.
MIT offered what I was looking for, and the location made it more ideal as I work and stay in South Auckland.
At MIT you gain practical knowledge and as well as a qualification. Studying was a total refresher of what I was doing at work and it has changed my views. It has enhanced my knowledge and benefitted me financially. I now have a different approach to work, import and export with laws, cost savings, and delivery of items.
I loved the approach of the tutors and lecturers as they were very experienced. The flexibility in studying was so great as I have a family and work. This has encouraged me to study more and enrol for other courses which will enable me be a logistics manager in the near future, and will help me financially as well.”
“To new students…
Get into the course and get your studies going as this industry has boomed. Without this industry we would be stuck. Covid has made all people realise that without the logistics industry nothing can be shipped or moved physically from country to another.
The course work is to a standard where a new student who has zero experience will start liking to study. The teaching environment and students are of mixed ethnicity and age. We share our experiences in class and offer assistance to the new students.
It is never late.”

“They teach you what you need to succeed.”

“Studying at MIT is a good way to upskill your strengths and it’s an accomplishment to study a course while being on the job – it shows dedication and makes you stand out from the crowd.
MIT operates at a very high standard where student wellbeing is a primary concern. The lecturers are the main attraction to this institute. They come with solid backgrounds and experience in their field of study and will not fail or give up on a student that easily. They teach you what you need to succeed, lessons are based on reality, and they care about their students and their performance.
My current job seems easy since I learnt about it in class already. The effort you put in now will greatly be rewarded in the long run.”
