“I completed high school at Ormiston College. I applied to a lot of tertiary providers, but I chose MIT. I lived in Flatbush at the time, so it was close to home. I loved the environment that was offered at MIT – you get more one-on-one with your lecturers, and they have small classrooms. I didn’t want to be in a big lecture theatre.
I studied project management and in my final year, as part of my qualification, I completed an internship as a digital coordinator with a digital marketing agency. I helped to get a new platform, aimed at the property market, off the ground. I learned a lot and my coursework prepared me well for my internship.
I’m pretty shy but studying at MIT and completing my industry placement has given me a lot of confidence and brought me out of my shell. I have now been employed full-time with the agency where I completed my internship.
I would recommend studying at MIT and recommend our local businesses consider MIT students, so everyone can get a job out of it. We just all want to land a job.”

“I chose MIT because it was convenient and easy to enrol. I have a passion for accounting. What I enjoy most about MIT is meeting people, especially people from other ethnicities. The lecturers are really good, they will help out if you are ever lost or need anything. You just don't get the same support at other institutes.
My dream job is to work at a bank or do something in accounting. My family is proud that I am following something that I am passionate about instead of doing what others tell me to do.”

“I chose MIT because they have a strong academic reputation. The practical, hands-on learning gave me confidence, and small classes mean more one-on-one time with lecturers. The lecturers were really supportive and very understanding. They were available to offer support, even on weekends. The friendly atmosphere is what I enjoyed the most.
I pursued the Bachelor of Applied Management (Accounting) CAANZ/CPA Pathway as I enjoy problem-solving. My father is also an accountant, so it's in my blood. I plan to do CA in the near future. The CAANZ/CPA Pathway is what most employers look for in the accounting field.
I'm now working as a Group Assistant Accountant for Smith and Smith, so it all pays off. It is worth the effort.
Stay dedicated and determined, no matter what. The moment you walk across that stage and place the graduation cap on your head, you won't help but have the biggest smile on your face."

"Running a business is not easy. As my business grew I wanted to know more about business practices in New Zealand, so I enrolled at MIT. I’m not saying change is easy – it requires commitment and passion. But I believe we can shape the future, together.”

"I’d always wanted to become a Chartered Accountant. Studying business and accounting at MIT was the first step in getting this qualification. It helped guide me to my current role as founder and Director of a small Chartered Accounting firm.
The practical nature of the learning at MIT and the lecturers who could use their personal industry experience as examples definitely helped cement my choice. The qualifications I gained gave me the base to work in roles in the public and private sectors. MIT offered the flexibility to study in the evenings while I was working full-time. The small classes helped in getting more one-on-one time with the lecturers and the supportive family environment really stood out for me.
Now my firm employs seven people, and I would definitely consider hiring more MIT graduates. The qualifications I received from MIT have helped me get to where I am today.”

“I loved that MIT gave me the flexibility to study while still being a full-time mum. I knew it was the right choice after doing a feasibility study of tertiary institutes in Auckland and MIT came out on top. It also helped me kick off my studies with a free office administration course while deciding my career prospects.
I’ve always been a people person with a goal of entering a management role, so HR seemed like a great fit. The practical elements of the course made my learning meaningful and through the internship programme I was offered a job.
I work as an associate recruitment consultant. It’s an extremely fulfilling role which includes, sourcing and building relationships with candidates, advertising vacancies, managing interviews, and negotiating contract terms.
During my studies, the lecturers provided professional guidance and they continue to give me valuable career support.”

"I chose to study at MIT because they have small class sizes and my study could fit around my work and personal life. Also, the accounting degree was recognised by the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants which meant I could go straight into the profession once I graduated.
When I graduated from MIT my first job was with Transpacific Waste Management. One of the reasons they employed me was because I had gained a lot of practical skills at MIT, meaning I could hit the ground running when I started working for them.
My MIT degree has definitely given me a great foundation for my career."

"MIT has been an integral part of my journey from certificate level to graduating with a business degree. It offered the qualifications I was looking for and the flexibility that enabled me to study while working full-time. I always felt supported and found the help I needed from classroom-based learning to online webinars.
I’m part of the Pacific migration story and the opportunity of a solid education took my mind-set from 'Impossible' to I am possible! The family vibe at MIT was important to me and with the ability to work and study in South Auckland made things simple and accessible.
To date I’ve been fortunate to work across a number of industries in both public and private sectors whilst embracing personal and professional growth. The skills and knowledge gained have led me to a number of leadership roles in my chosen field of learning and development now based in Wellington, New Zealand.
I believe in life-long learning and champion transferrable skills. Along the way I’ve become a published author and continue my work in the community as an advocate for public speaking skills. To me it comes down to, stepping into the light and showing what’s possible, as my way to honour and thank those that have paved the way before me, as I stand on the shoulders of giants."

"I chose MIT because of its strong reputation. What I loved most is that MIT had small and manageable class sizes which helped me make good relationships with my lectures. I also made some good friends because of the team project work. My queries were also answered on a one-on-one basis which made me appreciate MIT even more.
My qualification from MIT definitely helped me secure my current job as a tax consultant at KPMG. The courses helped me to obtain academic and technical knowledge, and the industry project helped me to apply that knowledge into practice.
I would highly recommend students to study at MIT. The small class size, interactive learning course pattern, and friendly and helpful staff made my experience unique at MIT."

“What I learnt at MIT, and especially in the medical admin course, was super helpful. It’s kind of the baseline to what I go back to throughout my day. If I’m stuck on something, I think back to what we learned there and it helps guide me to what I’m supposed to be doing.
My advice would be just to jump in and check it out because you never know what you are missing until you get into something. Just do it.”

"I had just completed high school in Kenya prior to coming to New Zealand.
I chose MIT because of its environment and reasonable international fees. MIT Manukau campus is so conveniently located with an underground train station that takes you right to the front door.
I studied business and majored in project management and operations and production management because of the great opportunities and the variety of places you can work once you graduate.
The friends I made while studying at MIT were like family, and the lecturers were amazing. MIT supported me to find my industry placement which all students complete in their last year of study on the bachelor. The industry placement helped me to get hands-on skills and industry experience.
What I have learned and gained from my MIT lecturers is what has helped me get a job in the business world.
You will never regret choosing this place.”

“I chose MIT for the excellent knowledge in business courses that it offers to students at a very affordable cost.
I moved to NZ for higher education as soon as I finished my bachelors back in India.
At every step I use what I have learned at MIT. I can relate all my subjects and use the methods I was taught during the course. At MIT, I loved the way all my professors conducted fully interactive sessions. I never returned home with a single question about the topics I studied during the lecture which used to be the best part of those days.
Industry placement is key, as it introduced us to the real world and helped us understand how we could use our learning. Everything that I have learned in the course, I was, and I still am implementing on my work projects, which has led me to manage 6 major projects.
The confidence I have built within myself after learning about how to deal with the problems and to create a strong communication channel within the team and the clients have also been very helpful in getting the success in this field.
The quality education, the support from the teachers, and the atmosphere which MIT creates to make you accomplish your goals, makes MIT unique.”

“I applied for four years for management positions and always got rejected. Within a month of graduating with my MIT qualification, I landed a job as a fleet project engineer for a waste management company.
I am a heavy diesel mechanic by trade. I worked ridiculous hours, and it was heavy work. I damaged my shoulder while working, and struggled to get work I could maintain without compromising my health – so I chose to study project management at MIT. It was the right choice for me, and I love what I am doing.
The culture at MIT is unheard of. The diversity and flexibility to adapt to me as an individual person to support and help me to be successful, and not just to get me to pass the course, makes MIT unique.
The staff are friendly and the lecturers across the board are very helpful. At MIT, if you show the commitment the lecturers will go out of their way to spend one-on-one time with you and help you with your studies. MIT has amazing facilities, and they have great resources available to support you to achieve high marks.
Applied knowledge is such a powerful thing in the workplace. MIT is the best place to help you to obtain the knowledge and skills you need to equip yourself to be successful. MIT didn’t just teach me how to project manage but they taught me the absolutely necessary skills to work as a professional person and to adapt to the work situation. They gave me the ability to perform higher. “
I will never stop learning. In five years, I might be the head of the department or start a new division for the company or just take on more responsibility. With this qualification, nothing can and will hold me back!"

“I was born in Fiji, and I am a solo Mum. I had to start from scratch in New Zealand. We did not have any relatives in NZ, so we were alone. I had dropped out of high school and was a solo Mum before deciding to pursue an education. I started my MIT journey with foundation studies and went all the way up to the degree.
MIT was an easy choice as it was an approachable institute that was student orientated. It was culturally diverse and had the courses that I was interested in. It was hard finding balance with my studies and being a Mum, but I was determined to succeed for my girls. I wanted to show them that education is a door opener to endless possibilities.
The thing I enjoyed the most about MIT was the campus life and the interactions with students and staff. I had the privilege of working at the MIT library as well as finding full-time employment with MIT at the end of my studies. The lecturers have all been amazing and go above and beyond to help students. The learning environment at MIT has always been invigorating and engaging. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there as a student. When I came back to complete my diploma it was like returning home.
All my lecturers were very supportive. I met some wonderful human beings who are really in the right profession of imparting knowledge and opening minds. My lecturer who let me come back and finish the diploma after dropping out, gave me a second chance at life. I am truly grateful. My supervisor for the project was so supportive and always willing to devote their time to helping me and allowing me to express myself.
Studying at MIT is like being part of a family. One that I am grateful to be a part of. It's where I found my strengths and where I blossomed as a student and as a person. MIT helped me find myself.”

"MIT was the only institute providing evening classes which was the ideal situation for me to attend classes during the evening as I was working full-time during the day.
I am a people’s person and genuinely interested in helping people and wanted to study something which would benefit the people I will work with in future. I studied a Bachelor of Applied Management majoring in Human Resource Management and Operations & Production Management.
Classes were just the right size to grab the personal attention of the lecturer’s and they were very helpful. The lecturers gave me guidance in completing my assignments on time. MIT helped me prepare my CV and introduced me to employers.
The challenges I faced during my time at MIT were not having enough time for me and my family considering I was working full-time and studying full-time as well. However, I had a lot of support from my family during this journey.
Coming from a completely different background, MIT was very accommodating to my needs. Classes were very good, the lecturers were very supportive, and I excelled at my studies."
