Staff profile
Dr Muhammed Waseem Soomro
Position
Academic Leader
Teaching area
Mechanical engineering
Biography
Prior to joining MIT, I have worked as a part time design engineer in various industries in New Zealand. Major project involvement were designing of components for Fisher and Paykel. Also, I have considerable work experience in the Automotive and home appliances industries.
I always try to bring my industrial experience to the classroom and teach the students how to apply the engineering principles in practical applications, before they could join to the workforce.
Currently, I am working with industrial partners to provide students with practical research projects.
Qualification
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Engineering
Master of Engineering (M.Eng.)
Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.)
Industry experience
After completing my B.E. in mechanical engineering, I started my career as a R&D engineer in the Automotive industry. I came to New Zealand to pursue my PhD in mechanical engineering from AUT university.
