"I am from Russia and came to New Zealand because it’s quiet, safe and beautiful. I plan to study software development at university, and I need my IELTS to gain entry. I wanted to find a provider where I could pass my IELTS, the support material provided was helpful for my learning and preparation. I chose IELTS on computer because I like computers – it was easier for me.
The test was good, everyone was very friendly and they made me feel welcome."

"I am from India and have been here in New Zealand for three years. I’m a software engineer and had transferred here through my work. I’m planning to move overseas with my family, and I need general IELTS for immigration. I chose IELTS on paper because I feel more comfortable and confident writing.
I chose this location because it was close to home. They have all the options here, free parking, and the facility is really great."

"I am from China, and I came to New Zealand because of the lifestyle – it’s more relaxed here, people are really kind, you can find a good work/life balance, and you can explore more interests (hobbies, lifestyle, exercise).
I hope to move to Australia to study biomedicine, and I need IELTS for university entry requirements. I had heard about British Council IELTS testing when I was in China, and I booked this test because it is the one I was most familiar with.
I booked IELTS on computer – however I would have preferred doing my test on paper because it’s faster for me to write then type, but the IELTS computer test was actually fine and overall, the test was really good.
The people here are really nice and very kind, you can ask lots of questions if you need, and the environment was really comfortable so don’t be too nervous – it’s a good place to take your test."
Liu Cao

“I am from Fiji. I came to New Zealand for my higher education because there are heaps of opportunities here and my parents were already living here. I chose this location because it was easy to get to, there’s free parking, and it’s close to home.
I need an IELTS test for further study. I want to study health science at university. I chose the British Council IELTS test as this was the test which was required for my course. I chose IELTS on computer because it’s faster and easier for me to change or improve my mistakes.
To help prepare for my test I used the support material sent to me on email and the portal.
It is easy to book and with the help from the lovely team makes it even better.”

“I am originally from India, but I have been in New Zealand for four years now. I moved to New Zealand to study and for career opportunities. When I arrived, I started my studies at MIT, and completed a degree in electrical engineering, specialising in electronics.
I chose British Council IELTS with MIT because I knew about their reputation from when I was a student here. The location was convenient, and it was good to book a Saturday to fit in with my work schedule.
I did an IELTS paper test before coming to NZ. I also did a TOEFL test ‘on computer’ for the USA which I found much easier compared to the paper-based test, so I chose IELTS on computer with MIT.
The test went well, it was easy, staff were friendly, the location was convenient for me, and I felt well prepared. In preparation for my test, I used the free British Council IELTS app which was very helpful, and there are two free tests available which was good preparation for me also.
Choose MIT, it’s easy to access, it’s informative, they have friendly staff to help you, and choose a Saturday it’s nice and quiet.”
Rohit Krishnamurthy
IELTS on paper test taker
“We are both from South Africa and came to New Zealand through work offers. We need our IELTS for residency in New Zealand.
We were recommended this test through Immigration New Zealand, and we chose IELTS on paper because we feel more comfortable writing.
The staff here are friendly and helpful.”
Deborah & Owen Stuurman

“I am from Zimbabwe. I had been living in Malta for the past five years, working in the health industry. I moved to New Zealand for employment.
I chose IELTS on paper because I’m not fast with computers. I chose British Council IELTS because I need it for my nursing registration. This location was convenient, and a Saturday was good as I’m working during the week.
I found it very useful using the app, preparation materials and lessons – and it’s a bonus as you don’t have to pay extra!
I am really happy with everything – it was just perfect. It’s a good clean facility, and the staff are helpful and friendly.
I’d recommend taking your IELTS here.”
Margaret Mashayamombe

“I am from the Cook Islands, but originally from the Philippines. I need general IELTS for further study and visa requirements.
I was recommended this test centre from one of the online instructors who lives in the Cook Islands. The Manukau location is very convenient and very nice.
I chose to sit the IELTS on paper format because I can understand it better – it helps me to concentrate on the text and think properly in order to get the best answer.
The British Council resources were very helpful when preparing for my test.
The staff here are very approachable, very accommodating, respectful, friendly and encouraging. I was very stressed as I missed my morning test, so they helped by bringing me to the second venue to sit my test in the afternoon – the team went over and above and out of their way to help me.”
Luisa Nava
IELTS on paper test taker
“I needed an IELTS test to apply for study in early childhood education. I chose IELTS on computer as have been upskilling on computers since 2022, when I came to New Zealand. I also thought doing IELTS on computer would be easier compared to the paper exams I had done at school back in Fiji.
MIT is near where I live so the test centre was easy to find. My family members had sat their tests here and they recommended I do the same. The online booking was accessible and easy. On test day, the staff were friendly, helpful, and willing to assist me if I was unsure of anything.
I am very happy with the test experience and my results.”
