Unitec-MIT Research Symposium 2022

Research: The Power of Collaboration
This symposium, collaboratively coordinated by Unitec and Manukau Institute of Technology, will be held online on 8 and 9 December 2022. Researchers from all of New Zealand’s Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics are welcome to submit abstracts, and to participate and attend. The symposium aims are to connect researchers from across the sector; foster collaboration between ITPs, industry and community; and disseminate quality applied industry and community partnered research.
Key elements of the symposium include:
- Keynote speakers
- Panel discussion on the future of research in our sector
- Research streams: Māori, Pacific and various disciplines
- Research presentations, posters and workshops
- Undergraduate student research competition
- Research awards – Māori, Pacific, Student, Research Impact and Early Career
- Celebration dinner and entertainment
- Peer-reviewed published proceedings

Call for Abstracts
- All presenters and authors of posters must submit an abstract
- All abstracts are to be submitted online no later than October 10th 2022. Abstracts will be subject to a “light” peer review, the intent of which is to strengthen the quality of presentations
- All presenters and authors of posters must register to participate in the symposium and sign up for EasyChair, the software being used to manage abstracts
- The Peer Review Panel reserves the right to accept or decline any submissions
- The acceptance of an abstract does not imply the provision of costs associated with the preparation or presentation of the abstract
- All accepted abstracts will be published in the Symposium Proceedings by Unitec ePress and the presentation or poster will result in a non-quality assured research output for the authors
- All presenters and authors of posters who have abstracts accepted will be invited to develop their research into full papers for double-blind peer-reviewed, quality-assured publication in the Symposium Proceedings, in Unitec ePress

New Research Landscapes
Manukau Institute of Technology and Unitec collaboratively organised this inaugural symposium in 2021. It was a successful event with 500 registrations, 130 presentations, keynote speakers, workshops, and excellence awards.

Rigour, relevance and resilience (the 3Rs) are amongst the biggest challenges facing management scientists to produce knowledge that is academically rigorous as well as practicable, useful and usable by business and industry. Manukau Institute of Technology partnered with USA’s Tennesee Tech University, South Africa’s North-West University and India’s Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (host) to present this virtual conference.
