Located in the heart of the largest Pacific population in New Zealand, Manukau Institute of Technology (MIT) is committed to the current and future success of Pasifika students by playing a significant role in the development and advancement of our Pasifika communities.
MIT is home to nearly 6,000 Pasifika students and has had thousands of Pasifika graduates over the years.
Pasifika Development Office
The Pasifika Development Office (PDO) is here to support Pasifika students, promote language and other programmes and workshops, assist with clubs and activities, and also act as the hub for Pasifika research, and community engagement.
The PDO is based in MIT’s Pasifika Community Centre which is designed to be a gathering place for all Pasifika communities in Auckland and a prominent community facility.

MIT is all about community and people coming together to help each other succeed to the best of their ability. Here at the Pasifika Development Office (PDO) we do this by being a home away from home and a central hub of all things Pasifika. As well as the events and workshops we run, our staff can help you navigate your education journey by pointing you in the direction of other MIT services and organisations like:

Pasifika Research
At MIT we are committed to strengthening the academic quality of our Pasifika research.
This means that we have researchers who lecture in programmes that help to advance Pasifika thought leadership.

Workshops
We run face-to-face and online workshops focused on accelerating engagement with Pacific peoples. Some of the content covered in the workshops includes developing and implementing your school / organisational Pasifika strategic plan.
