How to access Canvas

Canvas is the Learning Management System (LMS) at MIT where you can access learning and teaching resources for your courses.

Canvas is a simple, easy-to-use online platform that helps students and instructors get the most out of learning. Students can find all their course materials, hand in assignments, check their progress, and join in discussions or group work. Teachers can create lessons, give feedback, and stay connected with their classes.

Logging into Canvas

Log into Canvas with your Manukau Institute of Technology email address.

  • For learners: username1234@manukaumail.com
  • For staff: username@manukau.ac.nz i.e. st1234@manukau.ac.nz or gt1234@manukau.ac.nz

Use your MIT password.

If this is your first time logging on to Canvas, you will need to reset your password.

Please access Canvas using Google Chrome browser.

How do I reset my password?

If you are a student using the original password given to you, it will be mit$xxxxx.

This password will not work in Canvas, and you will need to reset it, before you can log in.

If you have forgotten or need to reset your password, go to https://reset.manukau.ac.nz.

Can I access Canvas on a mobile device?

Canvas functions best when Google Chrome browser is used.

To access Canvas on a mobile device, there are Canvas student apps available through Google Play or through Apple's App Store.
