Biography

Brian joins MIT with extensive industry experience from all over the world. He started out as an apprentice cook for the New Zealand Army, then went on to complete his London City and Guilds to advanced diploma level and a diploma in tertiary teaching.

Brian then became a cookery instructor for the New Zealand Armed Forces Culinary Training School, followed by an industry chef in Devonport Auckland, and in 1996 Brian joined MIT and is now one of our senior lecturers for professional cookery at MIT.

In 2002 – 2004 Brian was also TVNZ’s Good Morning Show Tuesday chef presenter for TVNZ 1. And from 2003 – 2006 Brian was the professional development chef trainer for the Super Rugby Chiefs and Auckland Blues Rugby Teams. And in 2005, 2006 and 2015 Brian was the New Zealand Cuisine presentation Macau China and in 2015 Brian was invited to Hong Kong SunRice Training Hotel School Hong Kong as guest chef lecturer-presenter.

MIT is a fun, safe environment, with very helpful 'human' lecturers.  I love that I am in a role where I'm helping students learn a life changing skill.  Seeing the pride in the students’ eyes when they have succeed is priceless.
