Biography

Hussein is a Civil and Environmental Engineer with over 14 years of experience in academia and industry. He holds a PhD from Brunel University London and certifications in OSHA, IOSH and NEBOSH. Hussein specialises in designing and reviewing water, stormwater, and wastewater systems, supervising infrastructure projects, and conducting site audits to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.

His career includes significant roles in infrastructure initiatives, reflecting his expertise in innovative infrastructure design, specifically three waters (drinking water, wastewater and stormwater), climate resilience, and effective stakeholder engagement. He has published more than 25 articles, focusing on water quality, GIS, and solid waste management. He advanced his skills in research and leadership as a Scholar at the University of Delaware.

Currently, Hussein serves as a Civil Engineering Lecturer at the School of Professional Engineering at MIT, where he applies his extensive industry experience to teaching and shaping the next generation of engineers.
