The human element and team performance is increasingly recognised as being fundamental to safe and efficient vessel operations. The management and development of essential non-technical skills is known as ‘resource management’ and incorporates social and cognitive skills.

This course meets the competence requirements as set out in STCW’78 Regulation II/2 and Table A-II/2.

Completion of generic Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems.

Course structure

This course provides human element, leadership and management training and skills to all navigation officers at management level (BRM) and meets the competence requirements as set out in STCW’78 Regulation II/2 and Table A-II/2.

On successful completion of this course the student will be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge to apply communication, teamwork, leadership, management of human tendencies to enable effective leadership and resource management at management level.
